Your Transfer Case Is What Truly Provides You With 4 Wheel Drive

When your engine produces power, it has to go through quite a process to get that power to your wheels and create forward motion. This process involves many different components and a complex system of gears. In the case of a 4-wheel drive vehicle, that includes a transfer case.

Your transfer case is part of your transmission system if you have a true 4-wheel drive vehicle. They will not be found on 2-wheel drive or all-wheel drive models. The purpose of the transfer case is to send power to both the front and the rear differentials when the driver engages their 4-wheel drive. When the vehicle is in 2-wheel drive, the transfer case will not be engaged, and power will only go to the rear differential.
